Wild Life modding — getting started
Wild Life has a very active modding community: new outfits, hairstyles, characters, animations, maps and full sandbox scenes are published every week. This page explains the landscape in five minutes — what the file types are, where to find content, and which tools do the work for you.
The two content types
Mods (.mod) add new assets to the game — things that didn't exist before: an outfit, a hairstyle, a prop, a character variant. Under the hood a mod ships game files that Wild Life loads from its Paks folder. → How to install mods
Save files (.wlsave) share things made inside the game — a fully customized character preset, a built map, a posed scene, an animation setup. They import through the game's own save system. → How to import save files
The Workshop hosts both, with filters by type and by what the content is for (Character, Scene, Outfit, Animation, Prop).
The tools
Minervha Studio — the mod manager. A free Windows desktop app that browses the workshop, installs mods and saves in one click, keeps them updated, and uninstalls cleanly. No account is needed to download or use it. This is the recommended starting point: install Studio once, and you never touch a game folder again.
Forge — the bundler. Select several mods and Forge builds them into a single .pak file for your game. Useful when you want one portable file instead of a managed library.
The Workshop — the catalog itself, browsable on the web. Every product page has a direct download and an Open in Studio button.
Free vs. Premium
A large part of the catalog is free for everyone — no account, no payment. Creators and Minervha also publish Premium and Mythic content, unlocked by a Patreon membership: link your Patreon when signing in and your tier is detected automatically. Downloads you're entitled to simply unlock; there are no keys or codes.
A sane first session
- Download Minervha Studio and install it.
- Open the Workshop and filter by Free.
- Install one mod (an outfit is a good first test) and one character preset.
- Launch Wild Life — check the outfit in the customization menu and the preset in character selection.
- From there, explore: creators' profiles are the best way to find more of what you liked.
Publishing your own work
If you make Wild Life content, the workshop is open to community uploads: mods and saves go through an automated review and are published under your creator profile. Free to publish, and your work reaches every Studio user. Sign in on the site and use the upload button to get started.
